Leo needed a dark suit for three evening events at his new workplace. In the shop, the assistant showed him a beautiful one. Leo liked the person he seemed to become in the mirror, although the price was higher than he had expected.
He had put money aside for a desk because his kitchen table shook whenever he typed. Buying the suit would mean another month of balancing his laptop beside the salt. Still, he imagined his colleagues noticing an old jacket and making quiet judgments.
Before paying, he called his cousin, who often attended formal events. She offered to lend him a suit. It needed shorter sleeves, but she said he could have them changed. At the local repair shop, the tailor folded the cloth and asked him to try moving his arms.
On the first evening, nobody asked where his clothes came from. A colleague wanted to know how he had solved a difficult delivery problem. Leo talked so enthusiastically that he forgot about his sleeves. The borrowed suit went back to his cousin after the third event. His new desk arrived the following Saturday, and the salt finally had the table to itself.
