During his first week at a design office, Ivo heard his name spoken in three different ways. He answered each time because he did not want to stop a busy conversation. However, he began to feel uncomfortable when people introduced him to visitors incorrectly.
On Thursday, his colleague Mabel asked him to check a drawing. Before discussing the work, she asked how to say his name. Ivo said it slowly, and she repeated it. Her first try was not quite right, so they tried once more.
Later, Mabel introduced him during a short team meeting. She used the correct name without making a special announcement. One colleague noticed the difference and asked Ivo to repeat it for everyone. He did, and nobody seemed annoyed by the short pause.
That afternoon, a visitor came to discuss a new project. The receptionist introduced Ivo correctly. He started explaining his drawing instead of worrying about the introduction. At his desk afterwards, he thanked Mabel for asking such a simple question.
