At the pottery museum, Dina borrowed an audio guide. The assistant showed her the play button and gave her a pair of headphones. Dina put them on in the first room and pressed the number beside a large green bowl.
A friendly voice began speaking, but Dina could not understand the words. She turned up the volume. That made the voice louder, not clearer. She listened again and realised that the guide was speaking a language she did not know.
Back at the desk, the assistant apologised. Another visitor had changed the language setting. She showed Dina how to choose English from a short list on the screen. Together, they tested the guide before Dina returned to the room.
This time, Dina heard a story about a family who used the bowl for soup. She liked looking at the object while hearing about its everyday use. Before returning the guide, she checked that English was still selected. Then she told the assistant which bowl she liked best.
