Maya and her brother walked to the recreation field with a new kite. They chose a place near the entrance because it was close to a bench. Maya held the kite while her brother slowly pulled the line across the grass.
The kite rose for a moment, then turned towards a row of trees. Maya called to her brother, and he stopped running. They brought the kite down before it reached the branches. Their place was clearly not a good choice.
They looked around the field. Families were playing ball on one side, but a wide open area was empty. They moved there, far from the trees and other visitors. The wind was stronger in the middle of the field.
On the next try, the kite stayed in the air. Maya held the line while her brother watched its orange tail. Later, they changed places. The bench was now a long walk away, but neither wanted to sit down until the wind began to fall.
