Orange barriers stood where the Hill Park bus usually stopped. Workmen were repairing the pavement, and the shelter was empty. Grace had planned a morning walk in the park, but she could not see anyone waiting for the bus nearby.
She walked closer to the barrier without going past it. A notice showed an arrow and the words 'Temporary stop'. Under the arrow, a small map marked a place around the corner. Grace followed it and found a yellow bus sign.
Two people were already waiting there. One man said he had almost given up because he had not seen the notice. Grace pointed towards it. When the bus arrived, she asked the driver if the return stop had also moved.
He said the return stop was in its usual place. Grace wrote that down before putting away her phone. She reached Hill Park only a few minutes later than planned. On the journey home, she recognised the repair work and knew exactly where to get off.
