Leah almost laughed when she saw the walking tour advertised in the library. The route included her own street. She had lived there for eight years and thought she knew it well. Still, the tour was free, so she booked a place.
On Sunday morning, the guide stopped outside a plain brick building near Leah's flat. It was now an office, but it had once been a small cinema. The guide showed the group an old picture with crowds waiting outside.
Leah looked up. Above the office windows, she could still see shapes from the old cinema sign. She had passed them hundreds of times without noticing. Farther along the street, the group found an old water pump behind a low wall.
At the end, the guide asked if anyone lived nearby. Leah raised her hand and pointed towards her home. Another visitor asked her to recommend a café. That part of the street she knew very well, and she was pleased to share it.
