The Invoice Behind the Flowers

Elena arranged flowers for a wedding and delivered them before sunrise. The couple thanked her warmly and posted photographs with her business name. Three weeks later, however, the final payment had still not arrived. Every friendly message brought another friendly promise.

Elena disliked sounding demanding. She kept opening the photographs and reminding herself that the couple had loved her work. Then her supplier called about an unpaid order. Compliments could not settle that bill, and waiting silently was beginning to affect another person.

She sent a clear email with the invoice attached, the agreed payment date and a request for confirmation. The couple replied that they had assumed a relative was handling it. Elena did not argue about the confusion. She asked them to confirm who would make the payment and when. They answered with a name and a date.

The money arrived two days later. Elena marked the invoice paid and finally replied to the photographs with a simple thank you. For future orders, she added a clear payment contact to her form. She could still enjoy making beautiful things and speaking kindly to customers. Neither required pretending that the practical part of her work was somehow less real than the flowers.
