Joel and his cousin visited the small lighthouse outside their town. They bought tickets at a hut near the gate. Joel hoped to climb straight to the top, but a volunteer asked them to wait with several other visitors below the steps.
Only a small group could go up at one time. The staircase was narrow, and people could not pass each other easily. Joel checked the time. Their bus home would leave in an hour, so he worried about missing the view.
The volunteer said the next visit would begin in ten minutes and last fifteen minutes. That gave them enough time. While they waited, Joel's cousin read a board about the lighthouse and found a drawing of the stairs inside it.
Soon their group climbed to the top. Through the windows, they could see fishing boats and the long beach. Joel took one picture, then put his phone away to enjoy the view. They returned to the bus stop with time left to buy a cold drink.
