At the sewing club, each member had a cup on the kitchen shelf. Grace's cup was yellow with a blue handle. One Wednesday, she found it beside Paul's sewing machine. It was full of coffee, although Grace only drank tea.
Paul thought all the cups belonged to the club. Nobody had explained the shelf to him when he joined. Grace was angry for a moment, but his surprised face made her stop. She told him which cups were for everyone.
After washing her cup, Paul offered to make small labels for the shelf. Grace helped him choose clear words. They marked one section 'Personal cups' and another 'Shared cups.' They also moved the shared cups closer to the kettle.
A new member arrived the next week and reached straight for the shared section. Paul offered her coffee and showed her around the room. Grace watched from her table, drinking tea from her yellow cup. This time, no explanation was missing.
