Three friends planned a gentle bicycle ride along the canal. They agreed to stop for lunch at the third bridge. Ella made sandwiches, Karim brought fruit, and Dan carried a small blanket. They all checked their tyres before they left.
After an hour, Ella stopped beside a bridge and opened her bag. Karim looked surprised. He had counted only two bridges, but Ella had counted a little wooden bridge near the starting point. Dan had not counted any at all.
They looked at their route map. The planned lunch place was farther along, near a drinking water tap. Nobody was very hungry yet, so Ella closed her bag. They decided to use the names on the map instead of counting bridges.
At Willow Bridge, they found the tap and a patch of grass away from the path. Dan spread out the blanket. During lunch, they chose another named meeting point for the return ride. This time, all three could point to exactly the same place on the map.
