At a park activity day, Mei tried disc golf for the first time. Players threw a plastic disc towards a metal basket and counted their throws. An instructor explained the rules and gave her a soft disc suitable for beginners.
Mei's first throw went sideways and landed well short of the basket. She felt embarrassed until the instructor showed her where to place her feet. He asked her to aim carefully rather than throw as hard as possible across the grass.
On her next turn, the disc travelled in the right direction but still missed. Mei walked to it, checked that the area ahead was clear and tried again. This time, the disc touched the basket before falling to the ground below.
She needed several throws to finish the first section. The next one was easier, and she began enjoying the game instead of worrying about her score. Before returning the disc, she asked for a map of the course. Her friends might enjoy playing there together the following weekend.
