Halfway around the park's cycle route, Petra noticed that her back tyre was nearly flat. She stopped riding and pushed her bicycle towards a public repair stand. It had a pump and several tools attached with long metal cables.
Petra tried adding air, but the tyre became soft again almost immediately. A passing cyclist stopped a little way from her and asked if she needed help. She had a repair kit in her bag, but she had never used it outside.
They moved to a clear space beside the stand. The cyclist showed Petra how to find a small hole in the inner tube. She followed the instructions on her repair kit and did the work herself while he answered her questions.
After the repair, she pumped up the tyre and waited to check it. This time, it stayed firm. Petra thanked the cyclist and chose the shorter route home so she could check everything again. That evening, she replaced the used items in her kit before putting it back in her bag.
