Lucy wanted to visit three places in town: the river park, the small art gallery and the hill garden. She planned to use the local bus between them. At the first stop, she counted enough coins for several single tickets.
When she told the driver her plan, he suggested an afternoon ticket. It cost less than three separate journeys. Lucy bought one and put it in a clear pocket inside her bag. She could show it easily on each bus.
The river park was busy, but the gallery was quiet. Lucy spent longer there than she expected because a painter was showing visitors how to mix colours. When she left, it was too late to visit the hill garden.
Her ticket was still useful. She took a bus to the main square and had a short walk before going home. On the back of her map, she wrote the garden's opening hours. It would be the first stop on her next free afternoon.
