When Lena invited her friend Kim for tea, she expected a short visit. Kim arrived at two with a bag of biscuits. They talked happily for an hour, but Lena needed to prepare for an online class at four.
At half past three, Kim started another long story. Lena looked at the clock twice. Kim did not notice. Finally, Lena said, 'I am glad you came, but I need to finish our visit at a quarter to four.'
Kim stopped and checked the time. She had no idea about the class. They finished their tea, and Kim put the biscuits in a tin. At the door, she asked when they could meet again. Lena suggested Saturday morning.
For the next invitation, Lena wrote the beginning and ending times. Kim sent back a cheerful reply. On Saturday, she finished her story over breakfast, and Lena listened without watching the clock. They both knew when it was time to leave.
