The street is full of fog this morning. Alba walks slowly toward the bus stop. She can see the pavement near her feet, but distant buildings look gray and strange.
Usually, she turns left at the tall church. Today she cannot see its tower. She stops beside a shop window and looks for something closer. A warm light shines ahead.
It is the bakery on the corner. Alba knows the bus stop is just after it. She follows the pavement to the light, then finds the familiar sign beside the road.
There are already three people waiting. Alba stands with them, away from the edge. The bus comes slowly through the fog. Its bright front lights appear before she can read its number.
