Pete walks into the kitchen in his socks. The floor feels cold. His slippers are beside the bed, but he does not want to go upstairs again.
His wife has warm slippers near the kitchen door. Pete tries them, but they are much too small. He can only put his toes inside. His wife starts to laugh.
Pete goes upstairs for his own slippers. Under the bed, he also finds an old pair. They are still comfortable. He carries both pairs downstairs in his hands.
One pair stays near the kitchen door. The other pair goes back beside his bed. The next morning, Pete has warm feet before he makes his first cup of coffee.
