The bus stop is only across the square. Mei can see it, but the rain is heavy. She stands under the library roof with her books inside her coat.
A man leaves the library with a large umbrella. He asks if she needs help. Mei points at the bus stop. He is going there too, so they walk together.
Under the bus shelter, Mei checks her books. They are dry. The man closes his umbrella and shakes off the water. Mei puts her broken one in a separate bag.
