It was late on a cold Friday night when someone knocked on the door of the small farmhouse. Tom and his wife, Ruth, looked at each other. They didn’t get visitors — especially not at this hour.
Tom opened the door. A young woman stood there, wet from the rain, holding a small bag. „I’m sorry,” she said. „My car broke down. Can I use your phone?”
