While packing to move, Emma found an old school report from when she was twelve. At the bottom, a teacher had written: „Emma has a bright mind. She just doesn’t believe it yet. — Mr. Carter.”
Emma stared at the words. Mr. Carter. She hadn’t thought about him in years. But she had never forgotten that sentence.
